About Us

The villagers of Goosnargh and Whittingham unite on the Saturday following Spring Bank Holiday Monday for the annual Whitsuntide Festival. Festivities kick off with traditional maypole dancing as the procession takes shape. A lively mix of participants in fancy dress and adorned floats accompanies the outgoing and incoming Festival Queens, along with their guests from nearby communities.

The procession travels through Goosnargh, making a stop by The Stags pub for performances by the maypole team and dancers from the Carol May Academy. It then proceeds to Goosnargh Village Green, where the Festival Queen is crowned in the presence of local dignitaries, the Mayor, and the Consort of the City of Preston. The celebration culminates at Goosnargh Village Hall with the renowned Celebration Tea.
