Road Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Preston City Council in exercise of its powers under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 has made the above-mentioned Order.

The effect of this Order is that on Saturday, 4th June 2022 from 1.00 p.m. to 4.45 p.m. or until opened earlier with the express permission of a police constable in uniform or the Council’s Director of Customer Services or his authorised representative, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle other than a vehicle forming part of or otherwise used in connection with the Goosnargh and Whittingham Whitsuntide Festival or emergency service vehicle, from proceeding along the following lengths of road:-

Goosnargh Lane​- from its junction with Mill Lane for 300 metres
in a westerly direction

Mill Lane​- from its junction with Goosnargh Lane for 100
metres in an easterly direction

Church Lane​- from its junction with Mill Lane to its junction with
Whittingham Lane

Whittingham Lane​- from its junction with Church Lane to its junction with
Cumeragh Lane

Cumeragh Lane​- from its junction with Whittingham Lane for 350
metres in a southern direction

The diversion route for the above road closures will be via Goosnargh Lane, Langley Lane, Inglewhite Road, Halfpenny Lane and Cumeragh Lane in both directions.

The above road closures are necessary to prevent obstruction of the streets at the time of public procession.

A Road Closure Order and Diversions will be in operation 1pm to 4.45pm on 4th June

Visitors to the Festival please arrive before 1pm when ALL ROADS THROUGH THE VILLAGE WILL BE CLOSED.
