Learn the ancient art of dancing around our Maypole, designed and made by local craftsman Andrew Birkett.
Rehearsals take place in Goosnargh Village Hall PR3 2BH on Thursdays from 4.45pm to 5.45pm beginning just before Easter and continuing after the school holidays.
In the Spring Bank Holiday week the final rehearsal is on Friday morning at 9am.
The cost is just £5 to cover hiring of the traditional Maypole Dancing Costume.
Maypole dancing is taught by Mrs Sheila Birkby assisted by Miss Daisy and Miss Poppy Haresnape.
The Team meet Mrs Birkby on Festival Day at 1pm in the Playground of Goosnargh Oliverson’s and dance first outside “The Grapes” Inn at 1.30pm. They then join the Procession. The second performance is for the newly crowned Queen on “The Square”, Whittingham and the Team walks back in Procession for the Celebration Tea in the Village Hall.
This is FREE for all children, Band Members and Special Guests taking part in the Festival.
Others are welcome to join them for a small fee.
