Spooktacular Triumph for Alex

Young families from the village flocked to Alex Johnson’s Hallowe’en Disco Party with even the smallest babies in a fabulous array of spectacular costumes.

Children were treated to an entrance corridor hung with shredded fabrics & lit by ghostly images. The Village Hall Foyer was transformed into a Witches’ Lair with lighted cauldron & an invitation to “Enter if you Dare”. They loved it!

Once inside the Hall the theme, entirely designed by Alex continued & was enhanced by Colin Gornall’s wonderful array of lighting effects.

As promised, Hallowe’en Hot Dogs, Spooky Squash & Creepy Cakes went down a treat and we thank Harry and Caroline Landless, Louise, Hannah & Grace Chadwick and Lyn Johnson for their generous input as well as all those who baked & donated prizes for the raffle.

Judging of the Fancy Dress was literally a nightmare – even with 9 fabulous prizes to award. They ALL deserved prizes! Thank you Andy Thiele and Festival Queen Roisin for judging. Of course Alex had provided a host of spot prizes and there is no doubt everyone left the party full of praise for his efforts.

As many will know, Alex is our youngest Festival Committee Member at just 18 yrs – the future is in exciting hands and we picked up messages that there are more young people keen to come on board.

May we invite them to come along to the Festival AGM in The Grapes Inn, 7.30pm on Tuesday 15th November.

Thank You Goosnargh!

Celebration Ball

Now that the busiest month in the Festival Calendar is behind us the Committee would like to thank New Queen Roisin and her Princesses for representing our community so wonderfully. Special thanks also go to Beth Hodgson and her Mum, Karen for stepping up at very short notice to represent us at Barton with such enthusiasm.

Tables for the Celebration Ball are flying – we’re almost sold out! The fund raising focus is a target of £1200 to replace our sadly worn out stock of chairs.

Thank you everyone who is buying a ticket for setting us on our way, we’re all looking forward to a fabulous evening on September 24th.

Can you help? We would be very grateful for donations of Raffle Prizes to make our raffle table look really exciting!

Melissa Crawley -2015/16 Festival Queen

20160413_115952

Hi, I’m Melissa and my reign as Queen 2015/16 has just taken me and my family to the Palace of Westminster!

I was invited by Ben Wallace MP and we all had tea and biscuits with Ben and his Guests
plus a guided tour. I’m in the photo with Ben and that’s the River Thames behind us.
My sister Chloe did the same when she was Queen in 2012/13.

We all went to Nova Scotia too, for the Twinning. You can find out more about that on the Twinning pages.

We’re Nearly There!

Festival Day is just weeks away. The Maypole Dancers are practising hard, the sun is finally shining and we are hoping for a great response to the Decorated Shops Houses and Gardens Competition to be judged on Festival Morning by Lyn Johnson and Jill Wells. Just drop your address details in to Jill at Goosnargh Chippy – must be within the Parishes of Goosnargh & Whittingham! Entries must be received by 7.30pm on Friday 3rd June
